In a bid to support expatriate workers who have been victims of trafficking, Qatar’s National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (NCCHT) yesterday launched the ‘Human Care Center.'
The center will function as a shelter for such workers, providing them with the assistance and protection they need.
The Human Care Center will also rehabilitate and integrate the workers into society, and temporarily hire them until their departure is ensured.

Located in Al Maamoura, the center comprises six villas. Four of these villas will be for housing and two for public services. All of these facilities are equipped and furnished decently and distinctively.
The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) Undersecretary and NCCHT Secretary Mohammed Hassan al Obaidly shared details about the center at an event commemorating the World Day Against Human Trafficking 2019 in Doha.
“A shelter for providing immediate relief to victims of trafficking, the Humanitarian Care Center is in line with Qatar’s keenness to combat the crime of trafficking in human beings with utmost decisiveness and speed,” Obaidly is quoted to have said by Qatar Tribune.
The center is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year in partnership with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Qatar Charity.
A proper mechanism has been developed in coordination with the authorities concerned to receive the worker who submits a trafficking complaint.
Workers can submit the complaint via the website of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking or at the security administration for lodging ordinary criminal complaints.
The center aims to provide protection and social welfare to the category of workers who need it.
The center will also raise awareness of the importance of protecting the rights of workers, considered as the pillars of social development under the Qatar National Vision 2030.
