A few months ago, Qatar had announced plans for the establishment of Qatar Visa Centres (QVC) in different countries around the world.
QVCs aim to make the visa process more accessible and more transparent for expatriates who wish to come to Qatar to work.
Yesterday, Qatar inaugurated two new QVCs in Bangladesh, one in its capital Dhaka and another in Sylhet, as part of its efforts to streamline visa procedures, reported Gulf Times.
The two new centres in Bangladesh is part of the opening of 20 such centres in eight countries. The first of these was opened in Sri Lanka in October this year.
The opening of the two centres will be followed by the completion of the rest of the projects in the coming days.
These centres will provide prospective workers with medical examinations and chance to sign employment contracts before actually boarding a plane to Qatar, reported The Peninsula.
The centres will provide all services including fingerprinting for expatriate workers, registration of vital data, conducting medical examinations, and signing of a contract of employment.
The QVCs will enable both employers and employees to perform their roles accurately through an integrated recruitment system, with the employer’s registration on the Ministry of Interior’s website and issuing of reference numbers for the expatriates to complete their procedures, according to Qatar Tribune.
The QVCs have been established in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
