Commissioned by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, His Excellency Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani participated in the 40th session of the GCC Supreme Council together with heads of delegations of other Gulf countries.

The session was held at the Diriyah Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, yesterday.

Members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister also attended the session.

Earlier, upon arrival at the airbase airport, HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister was welcomed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; HRH Governor of Riyadh Province, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; HE Minister of State and member of the Council of Ministers, Dr Musaad bin Mohammed Al Aiban, and HE Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani.

The PM attended a luncheon banquet held by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud for their highnesses, excellencies, and heads of delegations of Gulf countries participating in the GCC Supreme Council.

HE the PM also met with HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah at Diriyah Palace.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations, in addition to discussing the topics on the agenda of the 40th session of the GCC Supreme Council.

HE the Prime Minister later left Riyadh and was seen off upon departure at King Salman Air Base Airport by Minister of State and member of the Council of Ministers Dr Musaad bin Mohamed al-Aiban.
He returned to Doha on Tuesday evening.

The GCC summit concluded with a call to achieve coordination, integration, and interdependence among the GCC countries in all fields to attain unity.

The final statement underscored that the security of the GCC states is an indivisible unit, indicating that any aggression against a GCC member state is an aggression on all members.

It underlined that the challenges facing the region call for strengthening the mechanisms of cooperation between the GCC states in all areas.

The council lauded the sincere efforts of the Amir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah to bridge the rift between the member states and expressed its support for these efforts.

The council also praised the success of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup hosted by Qatar, and the distinct efforts exerted to make the championship a success.

The GCC leaders underlined the keenness to preserve the strength and cohesion of the GCC and the unity of the ranks among its members, and to maintain this region as an oasis of stability, security, economic prosperity, and social peace.

The statement also underlined the aim to achieve financial and monetary unity by 2025.
