Qatar has a firm stance toward the brotherly Libyan people and supports the UN-led political process in Libya, underlined His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani yesterday.

HE the Qatari FM was speaking at a joint press conference with Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla El Mangoush, in Tripoli.

The conference came as part of HE Sheikh Mohammed’s official visit to Libya, where he met with several Libyan officials to discuss the most recent developments in the country. He also affirmed Qatar’s full support for the sovereignty, stability and unity of Libya.

During the press conference, HE the Qatari FM described his meetings with the Libyan officials as fruitful, noting that the sessions looked at various aspects of cooperation.

He revealed that the two sides agreed to form working teams to evaluate their mutual pacts and look into other ways of enhancing support and joint work.

HE Sheikh Mohammed also expressed pleasure to see Libyan women take up leadership roles.

Referring to the aspirations of the Libyan people for stability, unity, and peace, away from all foreign interventions, HE the FM emphasized Qatar’s ongoing support to the efforts and the brotherly Libyan people.

HE Sheikh Mohammed said he looked forward to the visit of Libyan officials to Qatar to explore more avenues of cooperation to support the future of Libya in achieving the aspirations of its people.

On her part, the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs hailed Qatar’s role as well as its consistent support for Libyans since the beginning of the Libyan revolution in 2011.

She expressed gratitude for the support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the government and the people to the Presidential Council and the government of national unity since the initial days, and lauded Qatar’s position in supporting the Libyan political dialogue and its outputs.
