While Qatar has produced some world-class athletes and leaders in the past, they had not been as successful in the field of science and technology.

However, recent developments suggest that Qatari inventors are gradually making their mark around the world.

Mohsen Al Shaikh recently won recognition at the ongoing 28th International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Malaysia.

He won a gold medal in the ITEX Malaysia Innovative Product Award Competition for his invention ‘Oxy water tank cooler,’ reported Gulf Times.

In a short interview with the Qatar News Agency, he said he was quite pleased with his achievement.

“Oxy Water Cooler works to cool tank water at high speeds. The idea is based on using Nanotechnology in circulating and cooling air inside the tank,” he said.

“My invention can help reduce the temperature of water inside an 800 gallon water tank from 40 degrees to 30 degrees in a matter of three hours,” he explained.

ITEX is one of the largest annual exhibitions on inventions. This year, more than 850 inventors from 25 different countries participated in various scientific and technical fields.
