Saudi Arabia Launches New Absher Service for Travellers Entering Through Land Border

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has launched the “Absher Travel for Visitors” service electronically through the Absher app for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals and other visitors arriving through all of the Kingdom’s land border crossings.

The service was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), the Insurance Authority, the General Directorate of Passports, and Public Security.

The service will become mandatory for visitors six months after its launch. It facilitates and automates entry procedures for travelers and vehicles, allowing users to complete travel procedures and requirements digitally before reaching the border crossing, including registering traveler and vehicle information and obtaining vehicle insurance.

Visitors can access “Absher Travel for Visitors” in the Absher app before their trip, select their nationality, enter their mobile phone number and document type, and specify the border crossing and expected travel date. They can then complete the required traveler, vehicle, and insurance information.

The service forms part of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to improve the quality of electronic services provided to visitors, enhance their experience, and facilitate their arrival through the Kingdom’s land border crossings.
