Under its efforts to help the brotherly people of Lebanon, as they face dire circumstances following the Beirut Explosion on August 4, Qatar officially opened the second field hospital Beirut.
The second Qatari field hospital has been set up at the Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui and comes under Qatar’s continuous support to Lebanon.
Upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar sent urgent medical aid and supplies to Beirut quickly after the catastrophe struck.
In addition to humanitarian aid, Qatar sent a 50-member search and rescue team to aid in relief efforts in Beirut.
Earlier this week, Qatar launched the first field hospital in Al Roum Hospital to treat the injured from the explosion.

The opening convened the Health Minister in the Lebanese caretaker government, Dr Hamad Hassan; Qatar's ambassador to Lebanon, Mohamed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber; representative of the Lebanese Army Commander General Elias Shamiya; Director Manager of the Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui Dr Pierre Yared; the Qatari logistical and medical delegation that constructed the hospital; and several diplomats.
The Health Minister in the Lebanese caretaker government appreciated Qatar’s constant support to Lebanon and lauded the strength of the Qatari-Lebanese ties.
The second Qatari field hospital is both a "field and emergency" hospital and contains an operating room, the Lebanese Minister mentioned.

He highlighted the importance of the hospital, in particular at present, as Lebanon’s health sector faces severe challenges following the explosion and the full or partial closure of several hospitals in addition to tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Geitaoui Dr Pierre Yared Director Manager at the Lebanese Hospital also thanked Qatar for providing the second field hospital. He praised the Qatari aid to Lebanon in light of the difficulties it faces on the health front.
Qatar's ambassador to Lebanon reiterated Qatar’s solidarity with Lebanon.
The Ambassador pointed mentioned that Qatar Red Crescent Society and Qatar Charity have already started aid and relief campaigns in Lebanon.

The Qatari support will not be limited to food and medical aid, he pointed out, adding that other aspects in coordination with relevant Lebanese authorities will also be taken care of.
Earlier, during an international fundraising conference for Lebanon, organized by French President Emmanual Macron and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani stressed global solidarity with the Lebanese people as they face tragic and dire circumstances.
HH the Amir mentioned that Qatar was quick to respond to the tragedy and help the brothers in Lebanon by providing aid worth a total of $50 million. In the coming days, Qatar will also announce its contribution to the reconstruction of Beirut through different projects.
