In an interview with Sky News yesterday, Her Excellency Qatar’s Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater debunked propaganda about Qatari aid for Palestine being used for “non-humanitarian purposes.”

Calling it an “absolutely inaccurate” claim, HE Al Khater said, “Whoever has been talking this is not saying the truth. Yes, we do exercise very, very strict measures on our aid in general. And this has been done through the UN and obviously with the approval of Israel.”

All the aid is going to the electricity sector or humanitarian purposes, she stated.

“We have commissioned half a billion US dollars and most of this money is going to rebuilding houses. Within coming five to six months, we are confident that we can rebuild around 45,000 housing units,” HE Al Khater added.

This is in addition to rebuilding other facilities such as the Qatar Red Crescent Society building that had been damaged under the Israeli attacks, she mentioned.

“There was also the demolition of the Al-Jalaa building, which hosted Associated Press and Al Jazeera journalists, so there is a lot to be done, in addition to the Hamad rehabilitation hospital, which was partially damaged in the attack.”

During the interview, HE Al Khater highlighted the root causes of the attacks in Gaza and specifically the ethnic cleansing process in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood by the Israeli illegal settlers under the protection of Israeli forces.

“Talking about two sides aggression is miss-representation of the situation. We are talking about a nuclear state which has one of strongest army globally and stateless people,” she underlined.

She further said that it is time western nations should stop unconditional support to Israel.

“The suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation started at least since 1948. Hamas was founded in late 1984. There were decades of suffering before Hamas ever existed.”

“So, yes, it is about time for the Western nations to start approaching this holistically and stop the struggle of the Palestinian people, and find a just and viable solution for all nations,” she emphasized.
