Education ministry launches national programme to empower scholarship students

Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education launched Zad Al‑Mubta’ath, a national programme to prepare and support scholarship students before and during their studies abroad.

Acting Scholarships Department Director Noura Al Ansari described it as a cultural and awareness‑strengthening system, with activities starting from August 2026 and further workshops and implementation details to be announced.

The programme will bring together trainers and experts from government bodies and partner institutions to cover areas such as cultural and religious guidance, financial issues, safety and security, personal data protection, mental health, social support and academic guidance.

A dedicated online platform will allow students to create accounts, contact advisors and receive ongoing support.

Consultant Dr Abu Bakr Musa Abdullah explained that Zad Al‑Mubta’ath is built around three pillars - prevention, empowerment and response - and organised into five tracks: religious and cultural guidance, mental health and social support, safety and digital security, financial literacy and academic excellence.

These tracks were designed using feedback from former scholarship students and analysis of the challenges they faced while studying abroad.

The programme will also provide a confidential advising line, a digital portal with training resources and FAQs, an online student community, and regular visits to host institutions to support students until graduation.

It aims to strengthen readiness, improve academic success, enhance psychological and social stability, and develop leadership‑oriented personalities capable of representing Qatar, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
