Qatari Student Wins Two Bronze Medals in Prestigious International Physics Olympiads

The State of Qatar has achieved a new scientific milestone after student Ritesh Vardhan Reddy Kangula, from DPS Modern Indian School, won bronze medals at two of the world's most prominent international physics competitions — reinforcing Qatar's growing position in global scientific forums.

Two Wins in Quick Succession

The first achievement came at the International Science Physics Olympiad (ISPhO 2026), held in its fourth edition remotely under the supervision of the Russian Federation from June 21 to 30, 2026. The competition featured wide international participation, with students tackling advanced theoretical and practical tests across various fields of physics.

The student followed this with a second bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026), held in its fifty-sixth edition in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 4 to 12, 2026. The competition drew around 400 students representing more than 90 countries, who underwent rigorous theoretical and practical assessments.

Behind the Achievement

This double success is the result of an integrated training program supervised by the Physics Department of the Educational Guidance Administration within the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's Educational Affairs Sector, in collaboration with a select group of international trainers. The Qatari team underwent an intensive qualification program designed to strengthen scientific skills, critical and creative thinking, and both theoretical and practical abilities — preparing them to compete at the highest levels of international scientific competition.
