QCDC LAUNCHES EIGHTH EDITION OF "MY CAREER - MY FUTURE" WITH OVER 350 STUDENTS

The eighth edition of the "My Career - My Future" career immersion programme has begun with the participation of more than 350 secondary school students and 33 host organisations.

Organised by Qatar Career Development Center, which was established by Qatar Foundation, this year’s edition represents the largest participation in the programme’s history.

The five-day programme is being held in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.

This year’s programme includes 30 students with disabilities and additional educational needs. It also welcomes 55 students from Assalam Schools through an ongoing partnership with Education Above All Foundation.

During the opening event at the Multaqa Student Center in Education City, participants were introduced to the programme schedule and activities. Representatives of the participating organisations also provided an overview to prepare the students for their workplace experiences.

Over the following three days, students will visit the premises of the host organisations, observe professionals carrying out their daily responsibilities and gain direct insight into working environments across various sectors.

The programme will conclude on August 6 with a closing ceremony and university exhibition, connecting the students’ workplace experiences with their future academic choices.

Saad Abdullah Al Kharji, Executive Director of Qatar Career Development Center, said the continued growth of the programme reflects the expanding partnership between Qatar’s education, employment and development institutions.

He encouraged students to participate actively by asking questions, experimenting and learning from professionals, rather than limiting themselves to observation.

Ahmed Mohammed Al Harmi, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said the programme helps young people better understand their abilities and make future decisions based on knowledge rather than assumptions.

Yaqoub Saleh Al Ishaq, Director of Civil Service Affairs at the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, said early exposure to the requirements of different sectors can help students make informed academic decisions aligned with their abilities and Qatar’s future workforce needs.
