2026 Asian Games: Olympic Committee Secretary-General Visits Qatar Delegation in Japan

HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, visited today the headquarters of the Qatari delegation in the athletes' village in Nagoya, Japan, ahead of the opening of the 20th Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

He toured the delegation's headquarters and reviewed the work and arrangements being carried out by the administrative delegation to provide athletes and technical teams with all necessary needs and facilitate the delegation's duties throughout its participation in the Games.

Al Buenain praised the efforts of the administrative delegation members, stressing the importance of continuing work and coordination to provide the best conditions for Qatar's athletes, helping them focus on their competitions and deliver their best performances during the Games.

The 20th Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games will officially open the day after tomorrow, Saturday, and continue until October 4, with 45 Asian countries participating in a wide range of sports.

Qatar is participating with a delegation of 427 people, including 243 male and female athletes—184 men and 59 women—as well as 142 technical and administrative staff, 23 members of the administrative delegation and 16 members of the media delegation.

Qatar's athletes will compete in 26 sports and 32 disciplines through 18 sports federations, aiming to achieve notable results and strengthen the presence of Qatari sport at the Asian event.

The sports include athletics, football, basketball, 3x3 basketball, handball, volleyball, beach volleyball, squash, padel, taekwondo, judo, artistic gymnastics, golf, shooting, swimming, jiu-jitsu, esports, sailing, equestrian, karate, fencing, archery, wrestling, boxing, weightlifting and table tennis.
