A 5.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded east of Cairo Governorate early Monday morning, according to Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics.
The institute said the earthquake was detected by stations operated by the Egyptian National Seismic Network. Its epicentre was recorded at latitude 30.188° north and longitude 32.61° east, at a depth of approximately 10 kilometres.
Residents in several areas reported feeling the tremor. However, no casualties, injuries or damage to property had been reported at the time of the announcement.
