Doha Bank Stars League: Al Ahli and Al Sailiya Coaches Target Victory in Saturday Clash

Spanish coach Borja Jimenez confirmed Al Ahli's readiness to face Al Sailiya on Saturday in Week 5 of the Doha Bank Stars League at Al Thumama Stadium, stressing the importance of securing victory and improving the team's position in the standings. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Jimenez said the team prepared well physically and mentally during the break and worked to address technical issues that emerged in previous rounds to improve its performance in the coming period. He expressed confidence in the players' ability to deliver the expected performance and win, affirming that they understand the importance of the next phase and the need to collect points.

Al Ahli's Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong also confirmed the team's readiness, saying the players are looking to continue winning in the coming matches and remain focused on collecting points before the next international break. Al Sailiya coach Mirghani Al Zain, meanwhile, described the break as an important opportunity to prepare his team, which played four friendly matches to ready as many players as possible, correct errors and improve its technical and tactical level.

He said the players showed discipline and a strong desire to develop, particularly tactically and organisationally, and acknowledged the difficulty of facing Al Ahli while expressing hope that his team would produce the required performance and secure all three points.

Al Sailiya player Abdulaziz Metwali said the team used the break to address weaknesses and correct errors from previous matches, adding that the latest preparations had positively affected the players' performance. He said Al Sailiya are seeking their first victory of the competition against Al Ahli, which would provide a morale boost and mark a positive start to the next phase. Al Ahli occupy ninth place with four points from one victory, one draw and two defeats, while Al Sailiya are bottom in 12th place without a point following four consecutive losses.
