Al Shamal moved to the top of the Qatar Men's Basketball League standings for the 2026-27 season with a 91-82 victory over Qatar SC in the fourth round. Al Wakrah also won, beating Al Khor 73-63.

In the first game, Al Shamal defeated Qatar SC 91-82 at Al Gharafa Sports Club's indoor court.

The four quarters finished 23-22, 25-29, 20-14 and 23-17 in Al Shamal's favor.

Joshua Hall of Al Khor was named the game's most valuable player after scoring 43 points, the highest individual total in the game. He also recorded six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Dejan Janjic was Qatar SC's leading scorer with 28 points.

The win put Al Shamal at the top of the standings with five points from three games. Al Sadd are second with four points, level with Al Wakrah, while Qatar SC are seventh with two points from two games.

In the second game, Al Wakrah defeated Al Khor 73-63 at Al Gharafa Sports Club's indoor court.

Al Wakrah moved to third place with four points from two games, while Al Khor had three points from three games in sixth place.

The league continues on Sunday, when Al Arabi face Al Rayyan in a postponed second-round game. The fixture was rescheduled because both teams took part in the Arab Club Basketball Championship in Beirut.

The matchup carries added significance given the clubs' records in the men's league. Al Arabi enter the season as champions of the past three editions, with 11 league titles overall, while Al Rayyan lead the all-time standings with 18 titles.

Sunday's game will be the first league appearance of the season for both teams. Each will be looking to make a positive start in a contest between the reigning three-time champions and the competition's most successful club.
