The stadium will become a sport, recreational, educational, and social center for the Qatar Foundation community, and the Qatari community after FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The Education City Stadium, dubbed 'Diamond in the Desert,' embraces several sustainability features such as direct access to public transport via the Education City tram system link to Doha Metro and low toxicity indoor materials that provide a healthy indoor environment.
The 40,000-capacity Education City Stadium is slated to host matches up to the quarter-finals stage during the tournament. After the FIFA 2022, World Cup is over, the capacity of Education City Stadium will be reduced from 40,000 to 20,000 so that the remaining seats will be a tributary of football development around the world.

President of Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (PUE, QF) Buthaina Ali al-Nuaimi said, when its capacity is reduced by half and 20,000 of its seats are donated to support the construction of stadiums in developing countries, will become the headquarters of two progressive schools of Qatar Foundation.
Both Academyati and Qatar Academy for Science and Technology (QAST), will have the Education City Stadium as their premises as soon as the first edition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is over, Al-Nuaimi added.
"A part of the stadium will include buildings for each school, in addition to a third building that combines facilities for the two schools. Both Academyati and QAST will have an important role in this place. Young students will begin to acquire life skills that shape their lives and develop them inside the stadium, and they will be a vivid example of its value for Qatar, and an affirmation that it is more than just an amazing sports edifice.
Academyati, founded in 2019, is an innovative school that follows a new curriculum based on the interests of students, focusing on experiential learning and designing individual learning models for each student. The school building will include 23 basic educational spaces and space for teaching visual arts and music and a multipurpose hall for athletics. The Academy will strive to meet the needs of students between the ages of 3 and 18.
QAST building will also include 12 educational studios, three science laboratories, an entrepreneurial laboratory, wood, and technology business studios, electronics and metal stores, spaces for graphic design and video production, as well as a workspace."
The educational method of these two progressive schools will have more advantages for the students, as the stadium will transfer knowledge and information about the importance of innovation, sustainability, health, and well-being, she added.
“Our students develop a personalized program of studies in engineering, computer science, and biological sciences, and participate in research and internships within the Qatar Foundation’s diverse community of universities and research and development laboratories. Our students conduct authentic research and problem-solving by way of our award-winning CRISP curriculum, and in the last two years students have taken challenging A-Level or AP courses that allow them to compete for seats at some of the world’s best universities,” said Dr. Gregory Moncada, the Director of QAST.
Earlier this year, Education City Stadium received a 5-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).
Last year, Qatar reached a new high by finishing the turf-laying of two of the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums, Al Wakrah Stadium and Al Bayt Stadium, in record time.
