"First Step" Initiative Welcomes 10,700 New First-Grade Students Across Qatar

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has launched the "First Step" initiative in partnership with Rafeeq as part of its back-to-school campaign for the 2026–2027 academic year.

HE Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, launched the initiative during visits to Al Rashad Model School for Boys and Al Bayan First Primary School for Girls, accompanied by Rafeeq CEO Abdullah Thamer Al Humaidi and Ministry officials.

The visit coincided with the first day of the new academic year. During the tour, officials visited classrooms, met new first-grade students and presented them with gifts provided through the initiative.

"First Step" targets 10,700 new first-grade students across 103 government primary schools, providing welcome gifts and school supplies accompanied by messages of encouragement.

The initiative aims to help children adjust to the school environment in a positive and reassuring atmosphere, while strengthening their sense of belonging from their first day.

Dr Al Naimi said the Ministry places students at the heart of its priorities and is committed to providing an engaging and supportive educational environment from the beginning of their school journey.

He also highlighted the partnership with the private sector through Rafeeq, describing the initiative as an example of cooperation between national institutions and private companies in supporting education and community responsibility.

Rafeeq CEO Abdullah Thamer Al Humaidi said the company was proud to participate in the initiative and support thousands of children as they take their first steps in education.

Schools also documented students’ first-day experiences and their interaction with the gifts through photos and videos shared on their digital platforms using the hashtag #أول_خطوة.
