Pakistani Minister Praises Qatar's Support for Community, Highlights Growing Labour Partnership

Pakistan's Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development HE Chaudhry Salik Hussain has praised the support and care provided by Qatar to the Pakistani community and highlighted the country's welcoming approach towards migrants.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency, the Minister said Islamabad and Doha are keen to continue building a strategic partnership in the labour sector.

He said his talks with Qatar's Minister of Labour and Minister of State for Interior Affairs were held in a cordial and fraternal atmosphere.

The discussions addressed labour cooperation, matching workers' skills with market requirements and preparing workers before their departure from Pakistan.

Hussain also expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between Qatari authorities and the Pakistani Embassy to support the welfare of workers.

He noted that Pakistani nationals have historically contributed to Qatar's development across sectors including construction, transport and energy.

The Minister also highlighted significant potential to expand bilateral cooperation into strategic sectors including liquefied natural gas, healthcare, hospitality and tourism.

According to the Minister, Pakistan has introduced a series of measures aimed at ensuring legal, safe and orderly migration while making overseas recruitment more transparent.

The meetings resulted in an agreement to establish an institutional cooperation mechanism and create a joint working group that would meet periodically to coordinate skilled labour requirements.

The two sides also agreed to follow up on issues of mutual interest and provide a structured channel to facilitate recruitment procedures.
