Awqaf And Qatar Charity Honour Winners Of Inaugural Rofaqa Quran Competition

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, in cooperation with Qatar Charity, has honoured the winners of the inaugural Rofaqa global orphans category of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Competition.

The first edition attracted 389 Qatar Charity-sponsored orphan contestants aged between 12 and 20. Of these, 278 contestants from 20 countries advanced to the preliminary rounds, with 30 finalists from eight countries competing in Doha across three memorisation categories.

In the complete Quran memorisation category, Abdulgani Abdulqadir Sheikh from Somalia took first place and won QAR 15,000. His compatriots Abdulrahman Qasim Mohammed and Abdulrahman Ahmed Mahmoud finished second and third, receiving QAR 12,000 and QAR 10,000 respectively.

Mohammed Qamaruzzaman of Bangladesh won the 20-part memorisation category and received QAR 10,000. Humam Mamoun Ziadeh of Syria came second with QAR 8,000, while Mohamadi Gumtebo Nana of Burkina Faso placed third with QAR 7,000.

In the 10-part memorisation category, Mohammed Tafsir Amad Jalo of The Gambia won first place and QAR 7,000. Bangladesh’s Najm Al-Thaqib Chowdhury and Rehad Islam Mohammed Zahir finished second and third, receiving QAR 5,000 and QAR 3,000 respectively.

Jassim Abdullah Al Ali, head of the organising committee, said the Rofaqa category combines Quranic service with comprehensive humanitarian care, while supporting the character development and Quranic talents of orphans.

The initiative supports the Ministry’s objectives of promoting Islamic values and creating sustainable community impact, in line with the human and social development pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.
