Qatar’s humanitarian spirit has always shone through its acts of generosity toward countries around the world in times of need.
But it has been even more evident amid the current pandemic as Qatar continued to support other nations with urgent medical aid while fighting its own battle against COVID-19.
Recently, Qatar’s Government Communications Office (GCO) highlighted that Qatar has sent urgent medical aid to over 20 countries during the COVID-19 crisis.
Tunisia was also one among these countries where, upon the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar sent medical assistance including medical supplies and equipment.
In a statement, the Tunisian Embassy in Doha said that the President of the Tunisian Republic His Excellency Kais Saied, thanked and appreciated the directives of HH the Amir of Qatar to extend support to Tunisia in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Tunisian President said this mirrored the strength of the relationship between the Qatari and Tunisian people.
The embassy lauded Qatar’s swift response to a request to set up a 100-bed field hospital with 20 ventilators in the Tunisian city of Qibili.
Furthermore, the embassy mentioned that Qatar’s solidarity was also seen in the financial support provided by Qatari companies in Tunisia as well as Qatar Charity’s support to Tunisia’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
The embassy also appreciated Qatar’s efforts to reduce the negative impact of the COVID-19 crisis on residents as well as others around the world, including Tunisian nationals.
Over 1,500 Tunisians were repatriated from Qatar in addition to the repatriation of Tunisians from other countries in Asia and Africa through Doha, according to the statement.
Qatar and Tunisia share a historic relationship, which has been strengthened over the years with several cooperation deals across different fields, including tourism, transport, environment, judicial, among others.
As part of his three-nation tour, HH the Amir had visited Tunisia in February this year.
