Katara Concludes 10th European Jazz Festival

The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara concluded the 10th European Jazz Festival with a musical evening combining Maltese jazz and Spanish flamenco before a large audience. The evening opened with a performance from Malta by guitarist Sandro Zerafa, accompanied by French pianist Noe Huchard.

Their performance drew inspiration from the album Limestone, which reflects Malta’s natural landscape and atmosphere. The Spanish project Wamla, led by flautist and composer Clara Gallardo, also presented a performance with several musicians and flamenco dancer Alejandra Moreno, blending jazz, Spanish rhythms and flamenco dancing.

On Friday evening, the festival featured performances from Italy, Hungary and Finland, with appearances by artist Cristina Zavalloni, the band Noimo and the duo Pekka Pylkkanen and Igor Agrich.

Over four days, Katara’s waterfront hosted open-air musical evenings featuring nine European countries: France, Austria, Germany, Cyprus, Italy, Hungary, Finland, Malta and Spain. Qatar Music Academy opened the festival with a performance combining jazz and Arabic melodies.

The 10th edition was held in collaboration with Qatar Music Academy, reaffirming the festival’s standing as a platform for artistic exchange and cultural communication among peoples.
