Katara Hosts Panel on Career Pathways for Young Artistic Talent

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) organized a panel discussion titled “Building a Career in the Arts: Discover Your Own Path” in cooperation with the British Council and Art.Coordinate Foundation as part of the Teen Art Awards educational programme.

The panel formed part of Katara's commitment to strengthening cultural and artistic activity, supporting young talent, providing platforms for dialogue and the exchange of expertise with international artists and experts, and consolidating its partnerships with global cultural institutions.

These efforts contribute to enriching the creative landscape and opening new professional opportunities for younger generations. Maryam Majid Al Saad, Director of the International Affairs Department at Katara, affirmed during her remarks the foundation's commitment to providing platforms for dialogue and knowledge exchange, embracing creative talent and connecting it with the global art scene.

She expressed hope that the panel would inspire young people to trust their talents and discover their own artistic paths. Dr Waseem Kotoub, Country Director of the British Council Qatar, stressed the importance of cultural cooperation and the role of educational and cultural institutions in providing opportunities for young talent, promoting artistic and knowledge exchange, and building bridges of communication between cultures.

The speakers reviewed their professional experiences and perspectives on building an artistic career, emphasizing that there is no single path or fixed formula for success in the arts. Paths vary according to talents, experiences and interests, while every artist has an identity and creative vision that should be developed and refined.

They said a successful artistic career requires a combination of passion, talent, discipline, continuous work and flexibility in discovering opportunities and undertaking new experiences.

They stressed that success is an ongoing journey of learning, experimentation, discovering potential and transforming ideas into creative works with value and impact.

The panel featured interactive discussions about the challenges facing young artists and ways to respond to criticism and rejection and turn them into opportunities for learning and development. Discussions also addressed the importance of building professional networks, engaging with international experiences, and using digital platforms and technological developments to broaden the reach of artworks and connect with wider audiences.
