The third edition of the Mafareed Challenge Festival began today, Saturday, 7 November 2026, as the first event on the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club’s 2026–2027 season calendar. The festival is taking place at Labseer in Al Shahaniya and will continue until November 14.
Held under the slogan “Mokhalafat Al-Haqqawi” and organised by the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club, the festival is expected to attract extensive participation from camel owners in Qatar and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Participating camels will compete over seven days for titles across 24 heats in three categories. These comprise six Asayel heats, five Majaheem heats and 13 Maghateer heats divided into three varieties: four for Sha’al–yellow, four for Shaqah–red and five for Wadah.
The club has allocated 205 prizes, with 10 winners in each festival heat except the five Challenge Banner heats. Prize values range from 100,000 for first place to 5,000 for tenth place according to the heats in each category. The awards also include 20 vehicles: five for the first-place finishers in the open international challenge heats in each category and 15 for the top three finishers in the five Challenge Banner heats. A total of 72 sashes will be presented to the top three finishers across all festival heats, alongside 34 trophies for each heat winner and the top three finishers in the five Challenge Banner heats.
This edition features five new Challenge Banner heats, with their competitions to be decided on the festival’s final day. They comprise the Challenge Banner heats for Sha’al–yellow Maghateer, Shaqah–red Maghateer, Wadah Maghateer, Asayel and Majaheem.
The club has allocated vehicle prizes to the top three finishers in each of the five Challenge Banner heats. First place will receive a GWM TANK 700, second place a GWM TANK 500 and third place a HAVAL H9.
The Challenge Banner heats are among the third edition’s most prominent features, combining competition for the leading positions with dedicated prizes and adding further excitement to the final day.
The festival competitions include the Maghateer, Asayel, Asayel hybrids and Majaheem categories. They are divided between local and open international heats, alongside Telad, Shiraya and Qadan heats, under the programme approved by the organising committee.
The Maghateer category comprises Sha’al–yellow, Shaqah–red and Wadah heats. These are divided among the local open, local Qadan and open international heats, in addition to Telad and Shiraya heats for the Wadah category and the Challenge Banner heats allocated to these categories.
The Asayel category includes local Telad, local Shiraya, local Qadan and open international heats, in addition to the Asayel Challenge Banner heat and a dedicated heat for Asayel hybrids.
The Majaheem category includes local Telad, local Shiraya, local Qadan and open international heats, as well as the Majaheem Challenge Banner heat.
The third edition continues the festival’s development since its launch in 2024. The inaugural edition featured 20 heats, rising to 21 in the second edition in 2025 and reaching 24 in the 2026 edition.
