Within the framework of the preventive measures adopted to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as preserve the health and safety of Qatar's citizens and residents, and as a continuation of previous decisions and procedures, yesterday the Cabinet issued a 32-point plan.

Under the 32-point plan, restaurants and cafes can provide food and beverages indoors with a capacity that does not exceed 15 percent.

Restaurants with a "Clean Qatar" program with a capacity not exceeding 30 percent and allowing all restaurants and cafes to provide food and drinks in their open spaces with the capacity not exceeding 50 percent.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) also tweeted instructions for the gradual lifting of restrictions on all restaurants and cafés in Qatar.

The decision goes into effect as of Thursday, February 4, 2021.

The following has been decided:

- Limiting the capacity of indoor seating areas to 15 percent of the premises' total capacity.

- Limiting the capacity of indoor seating areas to 30 percent of the premises' total capacity (for restaurants and cafés that have the “Qatar Clean" Program certificate).

- Limiting the capacity of outdoor seating areas to 50 percent of the commercial site's total capacity.

- Closing food courts in shopping centers and malls, such that restaurants only prepare takeaway or delivery orders.

All restaurants and café management and staff shall adhere to implementing health and safety measures.

The MoCI stressed that violating this decision exposes perpetrators to the penalties stipulated in the laws, decisions, and regulations in force.

This decision may be subject to amendments and updates according to the latest developments in this regard.

Earlier, in a joint press conference by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, the four-tier plan to reimpose COVID-19 restrictions was announced.
