Muhammad has once again been named the most popular baby boy's name in England and Wales, marking its third consecutive year at the top of the rankings, according to the latest data released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The name was given to 5,957 baby boys born in 2025, maintaining its lead ahead of Noah, which ranked second, and Leo, which climbed into third place. The top 10 boys' names also included Luca, Arthur, Oliver, George, Oscar, Theodore, and Freddie.

Among girls, Olivia retained its position as the most popular baby name for the 10th consecutive year, with 2,386 newborn girls receiving the name. Lily moved into second place, overtaking Amelia, followed by Isla, Florence, Freya, Poppy, Elsie, Ivy, and Isabella.

The ONS data also highlighted regional differences across England and Wales. Muhammad was the most popular boys' name in four English regions, while Olivia topped the rankings in three English regions and Wales.

Several names entered the top 100 for the first time. For boys, Vincent, Carter, Stanley, and Ruben made their debut, while Eliana, Gracie, Anaya, Alba, Marnie, Lila, and Frankie joined the girls' list. Meanwhile, names including Jessica, Ellie, Bodhi, Grayson, and Brody dropped out of the rankings.

The annual rankings are based on birth registrations in England and Wales and provide a snapshot of naming trends across the two nations.
