Olympic Council of Asia President Opens BAL4HER Basketball Court in Senegal

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, inaugurated the BAL4HER basketball court in the Senegalese city of Guédiawaye. The project aims to provide a sports space that brings young men and women together through basketball and gives them opportunities to connect and pursue their ambitions.

The court is the first of its kind under the BAL4HER initiative in Africa and forms part of the partnership between Qatar Foundation and the Basketball Africa League. The partnership supports expanding opportunities to play basketball and strengthening girls’ participation in the continent’s sports ecosystem.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani praised the partnership, saying it had helped turn belief in the role of sport in empowering communities into reality. He thanked Amadou Gallo Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League, and everyone who contributed to the initiative.
