HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, visited the Main Press Centre and International Broadcast Centre for the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026,” accompanied by IOC President Kirsty Coventry.
During a tour of the centres’ facilities and operational departments, His Excellency reviewed the technical equipment, modern technologies and innovative solutions used to produce content and manage broadcasting and media coverage of the Games.
He also viewed workrooms, studios and broadcast facilities, as well as services for media professionals arriving from across the continent and around the world, and the procedures in place to facilitate their work and enable them to report on the Games efficiently and to a high standard.
Following the tour, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and Kirsty Coventry met at the Main Press Centre with a group of nine young reporters participating in the Olympic Council of Asia’s programme. They were selected from across the continent as part of the “Asian Games for All” project.
They welcomed the young reporters, learned about their experience covering the Games and discussed the programme’s role in developing the skills of a new generation of sports journalists and giving them the opportunity to gain practical experience at one of the continent’s largest sporting events.
The visit was part of the follow-up on media and operational preparations for the Games and an assessment of the readiness of facilities that play a central role in bringing the events of Asia’s largest sporting gathering to audiences around the world.
