Qatar Airways says flights operating normally during WATAN 2026 exercise at HIA

Qatar Airways has advised passengers that increased operational activity may be visible at Hamad International Airport on Monday, November 2, as part of the nationwide WATAN 2026 exercise.

The airline said contingency-planning and operational-readiness activities will take place at HIA during the exercise.

Passengers and visitors may notice increased activity on the ground at the airport as well as in the surrounding airspace.

However, Qatar Airways confirmed that all of its flights and passenger services will operate as normal.

Planned exercise at Hamad International Airport

The activities form part of WATAN 2026, a national exercise designed to test preparedness and coordination when responding to emergencies and potential risks.

Qatar Airways said the activities at HIA are planned and are being carried out as part of the exercise.

No disruption to the airline’s regular passenger services has been announced.

WATAN 2026 involves military and civilian entities

The sixth edition of WATAN 2026 was launched in October and involves military and civilian entities across Qatar.

The exercise focuses on testing operational plans, emergency procedures and coordination between participating organisations.

Tabletop exercises began on October 25 before the implementation of field activities, with scenarios designed to assess national readiness and response capabilities.

Passengers travelling through HIA today are therefore advised not to be alarmed by increased operational activity at or around the airport.
