Qatar Airways to launch direct flights to Western Sydney in 2027

Qatar Airways today announced its intention to launch direct flights between Hamad International Airport and Western Sydney International Airport from December 15, 2027, as part of the next phase of its expansion strategy in Australia.

The airline said Western Sydney will become its seventh destination in Australia, along with Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, providing passengers with more flexibility and travel options to more than 170 global destinations via Doha.

The service will operate three flights per week on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which will feature 42 Q-Suite cabins in Business Class and 312 seats in Economy Class, with free Starlink internet access on board.

Qatar Airways plans to gradually increase the number of flights to daily, supporting air connectivity and expanding travel options between Australia and its global network.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Hamad Ali Al Khater, said: "The launch of flights to Western Sydney International Airport marks a new chapter in the long-standing partnership with Australia, one of the airline's most important markets.

He added that the new route will connect Sydney's west directly to Doha via Hamad International Airport, and from there to more than 170 international destinations, supporting existing ties and providing opportunities for trade, tourism and economic exchange between Australia, the State of Qatar and the world.
