Qatar National Library has announced a month-long programme of workshops, summer activities and community events for August 2026, targeting entrepreneurs, librarians, artists, families, children and lifelong learners.
The programme combines business guidance, professional development, creative gatherings, cultural exchange and family support, while the Library’s seventh Summer Camp continues from August 2 through the end of the month.
QNL Summer Camp continues throughout August
Qatar National Library’s seventh Summer Camp will offer children and young adults opportunities to learn, create and participate in interactive activities throughout August.
The programme includes storytelling sessions, STEM workshops, arts and crafts, astronomy activities and other educational experiences. Several sessions are also connected to the Qatar–Canada–Mexico Year of Culture 2026, introducing children to friendship, imagination and cultural discovery.
The official events calendar lists activities beginning on August 2, including an educational journey into genomics and children’s storytelling sessions. STEM, craft-making and other programmes continue on selected dates during the month.
Startup workshop with Qatar Development Bank on August 15
Aspiring entrepreneurs can attend Startup 101: Turning Ideas into Startups with QDB on August 15.
Presented in collaboration with Qatar Development Bank, the practical session will explore how an initial business idea can be developed into a viable startup.
Topics will include entrepreneurial thinking, testing market demand, assessing whether an idea is feasible and understanding realistic early-stage funding options. The session is scheduled to take place in Arabic and English.
Librarians for Libraries workshop on August 16
On August 16, QNL will continue its Librarians for Libraries professional-development programme.
Qatar National Library serves as the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions regional office for the Middle East and North Africa. The August session will focus on innovative information services in an era of digital transformation.
The workshop will examine how librarians can transform traditional services, use artificial intelligence to improve library operations and introduce new approaches that respond to changing community and information needs.
Art Majlis returns on August 18
Artists can join QNL’s monthly Art Majlis gathering on August 18.
Participants are invited to bring their own art tools and ongoing projects, work alongside other creatives and exchange ideas in a shared community space.
The gathering is held on the third Tuesday of each month and is open to participants interested in creating, collaborating and meeting fellow artists.
Chess for All welcomes every skill level
The Library will host another Chess for All meet-up on August 20.
The informal gathering is open to participants of different ages and skill levels. QNL provides chessboards, while beginners can learn the fundamentals from more experienced players.
The initiative aims to create a welcoming environment where participants can practise strategic thinking, meet other chess enthusiasts and take part in friendly competition.
Three family and community events on August 25
QNL will organise three separate community-focused sessions on August 25, covering school readiness, disability inclusion and cultural exchange.
You Are the First Teacher
The You Are the First Teacher workshop forms part of QNL’s School Readiness Initiative.
Designed for parents, caregivers and teachers, it will provide guidance on supporting children aged three to six as they prepare to transition into kindergarten or school.
The session focuses on the important role adults play in building children’s psychological, cognitive and social readiness before their first formal educational experience.
Together on the Journey
Together on the Journey will bring together parents and caregivers of people with disabilities.
Participants will be able to share experiences, exchange useful resources and build connections with other families in an inclusive and supportive environment. The meet-up is part of a recurring monthly series.
Cultural Mosaic: Let’s Talk Cultures
The Cultural Mosaic: Let’s Talk Cultures event will invite people from different cultural backgrounds to discuss their customs, traditions and personal experiences.
Participants are encouraged to bring cultural items and use them to introduce others to aspects of their heritage, creating an interactive space for dialogue and mutual understanding.
Family storytelling event with Wifaq on August 27
Qatar National Library will collaborate with Wifaq Family Consulting Center on August 27 for a family storytelling event exploring the relationship between narrative, family cohesion and cultural heritage.
The programme will consider how stories passed between generations can strengthen family relationships, preserve values and encourage meaningful dialogue between parents and children.
It will include expert discussions as well as interactive activities for children and their families.
Authors join children’s Story Time sessions
During August, the Children’s Library will also introduce a series of Story Time events featuring authors reading their own books to young audiences.
The sessions aim to bring children closer to authors, strengthen their interest in reading and create more interactive literary experiences.
Ruby Kapoor closes the month with Book Talk
QNL will conclude its highlighted August programme with a Book Talk session on August 29 featuring author Ruby Kapoor.
Kapoor will discuss her book Let’s Talk About Life, which explores personal growth, mindfulness, gratitude and positive thinking.
The session will invite participants to reflect on how practical habits and greater self-awareness can support a more purposeful and meaningful life.
