Qatar has climbed six places to rank 12th globally in the Mid-2026 Quality of Life Index published by the Numbeo Global Database, reinforcing its position as one of the world's best countries for quality of life.
The latest ranking also places Qatar as the second-highest ranked country in the Gulf, highlighting the nation's continued progress across key indicators that shape everyday living.
The Quality of Life Index is a comprehensive global measure that evaluates countries based on factors affecting residents' overall well-being. These include safety, purchasing power, healthcare, housing affordability, cost of living, commuting time, pollution levels, and climate.
According to the National Planning Council (NPC), Qatar's overall score increased from 182.7 to 188.6, reflecting notable improvements across multiple quality-of-life indicators.
The Council attributed the country's stronger performance to its long-term development strategy, which prioritises sustainable infrastructure, high-quality public services, modern facilities and continued investment in healthcare.
The NPC also highlighted that Qatar's consistently high levels of safety and stability continue to create a secure environment for residents, businesses and investors, contributing to the country's growing global competitiveness.
The improved ranking reflects Qatar's ongoing efforts to enhance living standards while supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on sustainable development and improving the well-being of everyone living in the country.
