Air Arabia will begin operating direct flights to Qatar as early as next week.

In a tweet on its official Twitter page, the airline said it will resume daily flights between Sharjah and Doha effective January 18, 2021.

Air Arabia is the first UAE carrier to reveal that it will resume direct flights to Qatar following an agreement between the Gulf States to restore ties and enhance joint work for the region's prosperity and stability.

Earlier, the UAE's Civil Aviation Authority had confirmed the reopening of UAE's airspace to Qatar, starting January 9, 2021.

The move follows a series of announcements involving the opening of airspace between Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Yesterday, Qatar Airways said it will resume direct flights to Egypt, starting with services to Cairo on January 18, 2021, followed by Alexandria on January 25, 2021.

On Monday, January 11, Qatar Airways also began direct flights to Saudi Arabia, with services to Riyadh, followed by Jeddah on Thursday, January 14, 2021, and Dammam on Saturday, January 16, 2021. The airline will operate daily flights to Riyadh and Dammam, and four weekly flights to Jeddah.
