Doha Bank Stars League: Al Ahli Rout Al Sailiya 5-0 and Move Up to Sixth

Al Ahli defeated Al Sailiya 5-0 at Al Thumama Stadium today in the concluding match of Week 5 of the Qatar football league, the Doha Bank Stars League.

Naim Sliti scored twice for Al Ahli in the 16th and 38th minutes, while Julian Draxler struck in the 34th minute and Benjamin Bourigeaud added another in the 48th minute. Ibrahim Majed scored an own goal in the 83rd minute.

The result lifted Al Ahli to sixth place with seven points, while Al Sailiya suffered their fifth consecutive defeat and remained bottom of the standings without a point.

Al Ahli established a clear advantage through their control of the opening minutes. Tunisian forward Naim Sliti opened the scoring in the 16th minute after taking the ball from Al Sailiya defender Motasem Al Bustami and firing it into the net.

Al Ahli maintained their attacking pressure and doubled their lead through German midfielder Julian Draxler. He received a pass from Sliti inside the penalty area before directing the ball to the left of the Al Sailiya goalkeeper in the 34th minute.

Al Ahli continued searching for another goal, with Spaniard Erik Expósito delivering a cross into the penalty area for Sliti, who met it with a shot to score his team’s third goal in the 38th minute. Al Ahli consequently entered halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Al Ahli began the second half in the same way they had ended the closing minutes of the first, attacking strongly and adding a fourth goal through Frenchman Benjamin Bourigeaud. He converted Draxler’s cross from a corner into the net in the 48th minute.

Al Ahli remained in control and extended the margin with a fifth goal after Ahmed Reyad advanced and delivered a cross that Al Sailiya defender Ibrahim Majed inadvertently turned into his own net in the 83rd minute.

The remaining minutes passed without further changes as Al Sailiya failed to threaten their opponents’ goal, and the match ended in a commanding victory for Al Ahli.
