Al Sadd's Claudio Leonel Handed Six-Match Ban and QR1 Million Fine in QFA Disciplinary Rulings

The Disciplinary Committee at the Qatar Football Association issued a series of suspensions, financial penalties and warnings over incidents during Week 8 of the Doha Bank Stars League.

Al Sadd player Claudio Leonel received a six-match suspension and a QR1 million fine and was ordered to cover the cost of damage caused when he threw the match’s best player award. The ruling followed unsporting conduct after the match between Al Sadd and Al Shamal and was issued under Articles 44/9-3 and 6 of the disciplinary code. Teammates Mohammed Kamara and Saad Abdullah Al Sheeb were each warned and fined QR10,000 for misconduct after the same fixture.

Al Shamal midfielder Mohammed Ali bin Ramadan was suspended for three matches and fined QR15,000 for a physical altercation with an opponent under Article 47/1/7. Assistant coach Khaled Ahmed Al Ansari received a five-match suspension and a QR50,000 fine.

Al Arabi fitness coach Francisco Rias was warned and fined QR5,000 for his conduct towards match officials during the match against Al Rayyan. Al Ahli was also warned and fined QR5,000 and must cover the cost of damage to the substitutes’ bench during its match against Al Shahania once the relevant party assesses the amount.
