Falconry Heritage Takes Centre Stage at Suhail Exhibition in Doha

Falconry heritage took centre stage at the 10th edition of the Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition, Suhail 2026, in Doha.

Qatar played a prominent role in efforts that led UNESCO to inscribe falconry on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2010, alongside 11 Arab and foreign countries.

Ali bin Khatem Al Mohshadi, Chairman of the Qatar Al-Gannas Association, said the exhibition helps introduce younger generations to the history, values and skills associated with falconry and traditional hunting.

This year's exhibition featured around 158 specialised exhibitors from 15 Arab and foreign countries, showcasing falcons, hunting equipment, camping gear, vehicles and related services.

The association also highlighted its work in documenting Qatar's falconry heritage, supporting falcon genetics research, training falconers and promoting conservation initiatives, including the return of falcons to the wild.

Suhail 2026 concluded in Doha on September 12 with the announcement of its awards and the results of the falcon auction.
