MoCI and Google Cloud launch 50,000 digital skills training opportunities by 2030

Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched a national skills development initiative with Google Cloud, through Qatar Digital Academy, that will provide more than 50,000 training seats by 2030.

The initiative will focus on developing skills in artificial intelligence, cloud computing and advanced digital technologies, helping prepare Qatar’s workforce for changing requirements across the digital economy.

Training from basic skills to advanced programmes

The initiative is designed to provide different levels of training rather than focusing only on technical specialists.

Participants will have access to programmes ranging from foundational digital skills to more specialised tracks for:

• Leaders
• Technical professionals
• Developers
• Other members of the workforce looking to strengthen digital capabilities

The aim is to help participants understand and apply modern technologies more effectively within their workplaces.

AI and cloud skills in focus

Specialised programmes will include training linked to Google Cloud’s Advanced Solutions Lab, as well as learning tracks covering Gemini Enterprise and Google Looker.

These programmes are intended to develop skills needed to design, deploy and scale AI and cloud-based solutions within organisations.

Supporting 26,000 ICT jobs by 2030

HE Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, said building digital capabilities remains a key priority in Qatar’s transformation agenda.

The initiative supports the goals of Digital Agenda 2030, which aims to create approximately 26,000 jobs in the ICT sector by 2030.

The agenda also targets a 10% increase in the capabilities of professionals working in the sector through the development of advanced skills.

Google Cloud has trained more than 12,000 people in Qatar

Ghassan Costa, Regional General Manager of Google Cloud, said the company has trained more than 12,000 people in Qatar over the past five years.

Through the new initiative, Google Cloud and MCIT plan to significantly expand that reach by providing more than 50,000 learning opportunities by the end of the decade.

Part of five-year MCIT–Google Cloud agreement

The initiative forms part of a five-year framework agreement between MCIT and Google Cloud, announced during the Google Cloud Doha Summit 2026 at Qatar National Convention Centre.

The collaboration aims to strengthen Qatar’s digital talent pipeline while supporting wider adoption of AI, cloud services and advanced technologies across government and the private sector.
