Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has opened applications for the Nuclear Engineering Programme under the Government Overseas Scholarship Programme for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Registration opened on July 1 and will continue until August 15, 2026.

The programme aims to prepare qualified national talent for one of the country’s strategic specialisations and support workforce development in the energy and environmental sectors.

Programme developed with government partners

The Nuclear Engineering Programme forms part of Qatar’s overseas scholarship framework and has been developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.

Its objective is to build specialised national capabilities that can contribute to the country’s future needs in energy, environmental protection and related technical fields.

Nuclear Engineering scholarship requirements

Students applying for the programme must meet several academic and admission requirements.

Applicants must:

  • Achieve at least 80% in the General Secondary School Certificate
  • Obtain final and unconditional admission from an approved overseas university
  • Be accepted into an eligible academic path and specialisation listed under the Government Scholarship Plan
  • Achieve an IELTS score of 6, or an equivalent TOEFL score of 78 or above
  • Select a university major that aligns with their secondary-school academic track
  • Meet the general conditions of Qatar’s Government Scholarship Programme

The university must also be included on the official list of institutions approved for overseas scholarships.

Financial benefits and employment advantages

Students accepted into the Nuclear Engineering Programme will receive several financial and career-related benefits.

These include:

  • Appointment at government Grade 9 upon receiving the scholarship
  • Counting the study period as part of the student’s years of government service
  • A monthly overseas scholarship allowance in addition to the employee’s salary

The benefits are intended to support students financially during their studies while providing a defined professional pathway linked to the programme.

Academic content and approved universities

Applicants must select a university from the official list approved for overseas scholarships.

The available institutions and academic pathways depend on the student’s educational track and the specialisations included in the approved government scholarship plan.

Students should confirm that their chosen Nuclear Engineering programme meets all academic and scholarship requirements before completing the application.

How to apply

Applications for the 2026–2027 Nuclear Engineering Programme are open until August 15, 2026.

Students can access the registration page and the list of approved universities by scanning the QR codes included in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s official announcement.

Applicants should prepare their academic records, English-language test results and unconditional university admission documents before submitting their applications.
