Qatar to Host Arab Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships for First Time

The State of Qatar will host the 45th Arab Men’s Golf Championship and the 17th Arab Women’s Golf Championship, organised by the Qatar Golf Association at Doha Golf Club from November 4 to 11, with 73 male and female golfers representing 14 Arab countries taking part.

The men’s competition will feature 52 players, while the women’s event will bring together 21 players representing nine countries. Competitors will vie for the individual and team titles, with expectations of a high standard of play.

This marks the first time Qatar has hosted the Arab Golf Championships. The official programme will begin with the arrival of participating delegations on Wednesday, followed by practice rounds on November 5 and 6 and the opening ceremony on Friday.

Competition will begin on November 7, with the women’s championship concluding on November 9. The final day of the men’s competition will take place on November 10 and will also feature the closing ceremony and awards presentation.

Hamad Abdullah Al Mana, President of the Qatar Golf Association, said the association was proud to host the Arab sporting event in Qatar for the first time. He welcomed the participating delegations and wished them success and an enjoyable stay.

Al Mana said the association had completed its preparations to welcome the participating national teams and was fully ready to deliver a championship worthy of the standing of Arab golf while providing suitable conditions for players to perform at their best. He expressed hope for strong competition characterised by sportsmanship that would strengthen ties of brotherhood and cooperation among Arab golf federations.

He added that hosting the championships represented an important milestone for the Qatar Golf Association and would give Qatar’s national team players the opportunity to compete on home soil before their supporters. It would also strengthen Arab sports cooperation and support the development of golf.
