The State of Qatar signed an agreement with the United Nations to facilitate the entry of approximately 1.3 million litres of fuel into the Gaza Strip as a grant from Qatar.
The grant comes as part of Qatar's continued urgent response to humanitarian needs and essential services in the Strip. Qatar has provided approximately 30 million litres of fuel from October 7, 2023, through the end of March 2026.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the grant is part of Qatar's ongoing humanitarian support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and its efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis, meet basic needs and strengthen the humanitarian response in the Strip.
The grant aims to support the continuity of vital services and humanitarian operations, and strengthen the ability of humanitarian organizations to continue providing services to residents amid the current humanitarian conditions.
It also supports the health sector, ensuring the continued operation of several hospitals and health centers in providing essential services. Approximately 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza, including children, women, older people and persons with disabilities, benefit from health services that require fuel, in addition to support for other vital sectors and services that depend on fuel to maintain operations.
