Visit Qatar Signs MOU with FUN&SUN to Launch Tourist Flights from Russia

"Visit Qatar" signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with TT-Travel LLC (FUN&SUN), one of the leading tour operators in the Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States markets, on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market 2026 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which runs until September 17.

Qatar Tourism said in a statement today that, under the partnership, a dedicated charter flight programme will connect several airports in Russia directly to Hamad International Airport starting next October.

The statement added that the cooperation between “Visit Qatar” and “FUN&SUN” includes implementing a dedicated charter flight programme aimed at strengthening direct air connectivity between Russia and Qatar and supporting growth in the number of leisure travellers arriving from Russia. The programme is expected to attract more than 22,000 Russian tourists to Qatar during the 2026-2027 winter season through direct flights from two Russian cities, Moscow and Yekaterinburg.

It noted that the partnership will support efforts to develop and promote comprehensive holiday packages combining direct flights, stays at hotels and beach resorts, sightseeing tours and diverse cultural experiences. This will give travellers from Russia broader choices and greater flexibility when planning their winter holidays in Qatar, while highlighting the country's luxury hospitality, family entertainment events, prominent cultural landmarks and attractive beach experiences.

The two sides will work to implement a joint marketing campaign in major Russian cities to raise tourism awareness and increase holiday-package sales. Related activities will include virtual B2B training seminars for tourism companies, incentive programmes for travel agencies, commercial promotional tours and joint B2C digital advertising campaigns targeting the public. These efforts will be supported by FUN&SUN's extensive network of more than 600 partner travel agencies across Russia.

The strategic partnership aligns with Visit Qatar's strategy to diversify international visitor-source markets, expand direct air connectivity and increase Qatar's share of the luxury leisure tourism sector across Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. By combining charter-flight capabilities with coordinated destination marketing efforts and an extensive tourism distribution network, the cooperation will help strengthen Qatar's presence in the Russian market and support continued growth in visitor numbers throughout the 2026-2027 winter season.
