Qatar’s local produce yards reopen from November 5

Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality has announced the start of the new season for local agricultural produce yards from Thursday, November 5, giving residents direct access to fresh produce from Qatari farms.

The season covers five locations across the country: Al Mazrouah, Al Khor and Al Dhakhira, Al Wakra, Al Shahaniya and Al Shamal.

The yards provide a direct marketing channel between local farmers and consumers, allowing agricultural producers to sell their products without intermediaries.

Fresh produce directly from Qatari farms

The local agricultural produce yards are designed to give farmers a direct platform to market their products while giving consumers access to fresh, locally grown produce.

Typical products offered during the agricultural season include locally grown vegetables, dates, honey and other farm products, depending on availability and season.

The initiative forms part of the Ministry of Municipality’s efforts to support domestic agricultural production and strengthen Qatar’s food-security sector.

Supporting local farmers

Qatar’s produce-yard programme has expanded considerably since its introduction.

During the 2025/26 season, more than 100 Qatari farms participated in the seasonal yards, according to the Ministry of Municipality.

The Ministry has previously said the yards help create direct sales channels between farms and consumers, reducing the need for intermediaries while supporting fair returns for farmers and access to fresh local products for residents.

Al Mazrouah Yard, located at Umm Salal Central Market, operates throughout the year, while the other seasonal yards reopen during Qatar’s main agricultural season.
