Thousands of users around the world reported disruptions affecting Facebook, Instagram and Facebook Messenger on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
The three social media and messaging services are owned by technology company Meta.
Users reported being unable to access their accounts, refresh social media feeds, send messages or log in to the platforms. Some Facebook desktop users were shown an “Account Temporarily Unavailable” message when attempting to sign in.
More than 4,000 outage reports submitted
More than 4,000 reports were submitted to Downdetector as complaints increased during the disruption.
Downdetector collects outage reports submitted by users and tracks unusual increases in problems affecting websites, applications and digital services. The number of reports does not represent every affected user, meaning the total impact may have been broader.
Reports were recorded in several countries, including Israel, while other international reports indicated that the access problems were affecting users across multiple regions.
