Qatar has unveiled the official slogan for National Day 2026, “You Are the Nation’s Treasure,” drawing inspiration from the words and legacy of the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Organising Committee for Qatar National Day Celebrations, announced the slogan on Monday, November 2.
The Arabic slogan, “Antum Dhukhr Al Watan” — “أنتم ذخر الوطن” — is taken from the Father Amir’s speech when he handed over the reins of leadership to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on June 25, 2013.
Words that placed Qatar’s people at the centre
In his address, the Father Amir described Qatar’s sons and daughters as the nation’s treasure, the builders of its present and the standard-bearers of its future.
He expressed confidence in their ambitions and achievements and emphasised their responsibility in carrying Qatar forward.
The 2026 slogan builds on that message by placing people at the centre of Qatar’s national journey and highlighting the role of citizens in building, protecting and advancing the country.
First National Day since Father Amir’s passing
This year’s National Day carries particular significance as it will be the first since the passing of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on July 12, 2026.
The Amiri Diwan announced his passing at the age of 74, following a life and leadership that helped shape Qatar’s modern development.
The Ministry of Culture said this year’s slogan provides an opportunity to remember his national legacy and his vision of placing the Qatari people at the heart of development.
Continuing Qatar’s journey of development
HE the Minister of Culture said the slogan reflects the values of belonging, giving and responsibility that have shaped Qatar’s development.
It also recalls the resilience and solidarity of previous generations who faced difficult living conditions and limited resources while preserving the country’s unity and laying the foundations for future generations.
The slogan emphasises that Qatar’s true wealth lies in its people and in their willingness to translate their sense of belonging into work, effort and contribution to the country’s progress.
A message rooted in Qatar’s history
The theme also draws from Qatar’s wider history, reflecting the idea that nations are protected through the unity of their people and strengthened through their determination and collective effort.
Successive generations have carried forward that journey, transforming ambition into institutions and development projects while keeping people at the centre of national progress.
The 2026 slogan therefore serves both as a tribute to the late Father Amir and as a call for future generations to continue the journey of nation-building.
Qatar National Day is celebrated annually on December 18.
