Hamad Medical Corporation has highlighted international recognition received by Al Wakra Hospital and Heart Hospital for their implementation of person-centered healthcare practices.
Al Wakra Hospital holds Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care from Planetree International, while Heart Hospital holds Silver Certification.
The certifications recognise healthcare organisations that demonstrate strong practices in involving patients and families in care, respecting individual needs and preferences, and improving the overall patient experience.
Al Wakra Hospital receives Gold certification
Al Wakra Hospital was awarded Planetree Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care in February 2026.
Gold represents the highest Planetree certification level for person-centered care.
HMC said Al Wakra Hospital underwent an assessment that included discussions with patients, families and staff, as well as a review of patient-experience and quality indicators.
The assessment also examined practices including patient and family participation in care decisions, visiting arrangements and access to medical information.
Heart Hospital receives Silver certification
Heart Hospital received Planetree Silver Certification in January 2026.
The achievement made it the world's first tertiary cardiology hospital to receive Planetree certification for excellence in person-centered care.
Heart Hospital provides specialised cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery services, including emergency cardiac care, intensive care, cardiac rehabilitation and advanced heart-failure management.
