Hassan Mansour Wins Asian Karate Silver for Qatar

Qatar's Hassan Mansour won the silver medal in the junior men's +76kg division at the 24th Asian Karate Championships for Cadets, Juniors and Under-21 athletes in Amman, Jordan.

Mansour secured second place after a series of demanding bouts against some of Asia's leading competitors, delivering a strong performance throughout his campaign.

Eid Ali Al Meraikhi, President of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, praised Mansour's achievement and said the silver medal reflected the work of the athlete as well as the technical and administrative staff, while highlighting the continued development of Qatari karate.

Al Meraikhi dedicated the achievement to HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani in recognition of his support for the sport. He added that the medal would provide an important boost for Mansour and his national-team teammates as they continue developing their performances ahead of major continental and global competitions.

Qatar's participation in the championship continues on Thursday, when Abdulrahman Mustafa competes in the Under-21 men's -60kg division, with the national team aiming to add another medal.

Qatar is represented at the championship by Mansour in the junior men's +76kg division and Mustafa in the Under-21 men's -60kg division. The delegation is headed by Rashid Al Hajri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation.

The 24th Asian Karate Championships run through September 11 and feature kata and kumite competitions across the cadet, junior and Under-21 divisions. A total of 338 athletes from 30 countries are competing over four days at Arena Hall in Al Hussein Youth City in Amman.
