Qatar Announces 23-Player Olympic Football Squad For Asian Games

The Qatar Football Association has announced the final 23-player squad for the Qatar Olympic team’s football campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

Qatar Under-23 head coach Jose Angel Lacunza selected goalkeepers Abubakar Mohammed, Jalal Amir and Mohammed Fawzi, alongside Mohammed Hani, Faisal Mohammed, Yaman Jarrar, Bassam Adel, Zaid Burhan, Ali Shehabi, Alwaleed Mohammed, Atef Magdy, Jassim Al Hamad, Mohammed Ali, Muath Ibrahim, Yousef Mohammed, Nawaf Al Yahri, Tamim Al Qadi, Ziad Fadi, Qais Al Rawi, Nasser Adel, Mohammed Khaled, Marwan Sherif and Ghanem Al Menhali.

The Qatar Olympic team travelled to Aichi-Nagoya on September 11. The football competition will begin on September 15, four days before the Games’ official opening ceremony on September 19. The Asian Games will run in Japan until October 4.

Qatar has been drawn in Group D with South Korea and Saudi Arabia. The football tournament features 15 teams divided into four groups, with three groups containing four teams and Group D comprising three teams.

The group stage will be played in a single round-robin format. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals, followed by knockout matches through the final and the third-place play-off.
