Iraq won the second edition of the Gulf Veterans Cup Qatar 2026 after defeating Saudi Arabia 4–3 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time in the final at Saud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium, retaining the title for the second consecutive edition.
Jassim bin Sultan Al Rumaihi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Football Federation, presented Iraq with the championship trophy. Iraq’s Khaldoun Ibrahim was named Player of the Tournament, Noor Sabri received the Best Goalkeeper award, and Hammadi Ahmed claimed the Top Scorer award after scoring five goals.
The championship concluded after being organised by the Gulf Football Federation in cooperation with Qatar’s Local Organising Committee for Football Events. It featured leading former football stars representing the eight Gulf football associations, in a competitive atmosphere that reflected the event’s role in strengthening sporting ties among the region’s people.
Matches from the group stage through to the final were held at Hamad Al Kabeer Stadium, Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium and Saud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium.
Iraq reached the final after defeating Qatar 4–0, while Saudi Arabia secured their place by overcoming Bahrain 5–4 on penalties following a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
The second edition featured eight national teams divided into two groups. Matches consisted of two 20-minute halves, with unlimited substitutions permitted, while knockout matches that ended level in regulation time were decided directly by penalty shootouts.
The Gulf Veterans Cup Qatar 2026 coincided with the Gulf U-17 Cup 2026, which Qatar hosted from October 16 to November 4.
