Qatar Charity Launches Free Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery Initiative in Somalia
Qatar Charity has launched the "Smile-Making" initiative to provide free treatment for Somali children and adults with cleft lip and cleft palate.
Supported by donors in Qatar and carried out in cooperation with Somalia's Ministry of Health and Community Care and Well Care Specialist Hospital, the initiative will provide surgery and medical care for 72 beneficiaries.
Medical teams have completed 23 operations so far, while preparations continue to treat the remaining beneficiaries. The initiative includes medical assessments, surgery and post-treatment follow-up.
