Qatar Condemns Houthi And Iranian Attacks On Arab Countries

Qatar has strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi group against civilian and economic targets in Saudi Arabia, as well as renewed Iranian attacks on several Arab countries.

Qatar’s statement was delivered by its Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna, Jassim Yacoub Al Hamadi, during a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors.

Qatar condemned continued Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, saying they threaten international maritime security, safety and freedom of navigation. It expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

Al Hamadi also condemned what Qatar described as renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, calling them violations of the targeted countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity, international law, the UN Charter and good-neighbourly principles.

Qatar referred to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, adopted in March 2026, which condemned Iranian attacks on Arab countries and called on Iran to respect international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. It reiterated its call for dialogue, negotiations and an end to military escalation in the Gulf, warning that continued attacks could undermine diplomatic efforts and affect energy, trade, maritime transport and global supply chains.

Regarding Palestine, Qatar said developments in the Gulf must not divert attention from the Palestinian cause. It rejected any plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians and criticised continued Israeli policies of annexation, displacement and violations of Palestinian rights.

Qatar said the only path to a just and lasting peace is the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. It also stressed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory.

Al Hamadi said Qatar considers Iran legally responsible for the attacks it condemned, while describing forced displacement as a violation of international and humanitarian law. He also referred to Security Council Resolution 2334 and Resolution 2803, which endorsed a comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
