Qatar Wins Three Gold Medals at FISU World University Weightlifting Championship

Qatar won three gold medals on the final day of the 10th FISU World University Weightlifting Championship in Doha.

Qatari lifter Wissal Yakhlef claimed all three gold medals in the women's over-86kg category, winning the snatch with 125kg, the clean and jerk with 155kg, and the overall title with a combined total of 280kg.

The five-day championship, hosted by Qatar Foundation at Education City, brought together around 116 athletes from 21 countries. The final day featured four weight classes, including the women's 86kg and over-86kg categories and the men's 110kg and over-110kg categories.

Chinese Taipei's Yu-Lin Peng, American George Upmeyer and Iraq's Mustafa Jabbar also swept the gold medals in their respective categories.

Yakhlef said the championship marked the final stage of her preparation before joining Qatar's delegation at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

The event concluded with a closing ceremony featuring a parade of flags and elements of Qatari culture. Albania will host the next edition in 2028.
